Liftoff PGH Begins Countdown to December Summit

Liftoff Speaker Dr. Abdesalam Soudi of the University of Pittsburgh stopped by and posed for a photo with Innovation Associate Megan Butler and our own Liftoff Astronaut.

Oakland is a-buzz with Liftoff PGH's latest Liftodrop, after we landed on the University of Pittsburgh campus to bring some Liftoff PGH innovation on October 30. While our Early Adopter ticket purchasers dropped by to pick up their new Liftoff PGH gear, students and faculty couldn't help but wonder why an astronaut wandered the city and popped up on their social media feeds.

It's a sure sign that we are one month away from our virtual conference, which is our own experiment in remote collaboration. If you are imagining a series of never-ending video calls, think again. Starting with our Liftoff GO app, the conference experience is designed to fit into your daily schedule. From December 1-14, we have morning yoga sessions, lunchtime facilitated discussions, and happy hour networking, in addition to speakers that you can listen to when you need a brain break or a walk. You will meet real Pittsburghers from the safety of your porch, and you may even venture out to visit our interactive art piece in the cultural district of downtown.

Innovators and Early Adopters gathered to pick up their gear and learn about the Liftoff PGH 2020 Summit.

After following your personal innovation journey for two weeks, our last two days will introduce you to boundary pushers for our final collaborative effort. December 15th is a full day live broadcast featuring some of the nation's most inventive minds, including founder of OneMedical Amir Rubin, Netflix documentary producer Dr. Jessica Zitter, health design thinking pioneer Dr. Bon Ku, and Verily Life Sciences' President of Health Platforms Dr. Vivian Lee. December 16th is a full day of topic specific interactive workshops, challenging you to create your own future in health care. You'll participate in a design sprint, brainstorm new end-of-life solutions, or reimagine Pittsburgh's innovation district.

If you're feeling the end-of-year blues, give yourself a creativity refresh with a Liftoff PGH December. Tickets are on sale at liftoffpgh.org/register. The countdown is on. See you December 1st
