Patient Safety Technology Challenge Announces New Competition

A new competition kicked off this month as part of the Patient Safety Technology Challenge. A brand new competition, Patient Safety Technology Trailblazer, is being hosted by OSF Healthcare, a non-profit Catholic healthcare organization that operates 15 hospitals and other facilities in Illinois and Michigan.

The competition invites University of Illinois College of Medicine medical students and OSF residents and fellows to submit ideas about how they can leverage technology, such as: AI, augmented reality, virtual reality, and robotics, to reduce medical errors that harm patients. They will focus on addressing five problem categories including medication-related errors, fall prevention, procedural and surgical-related errors, healthcare-associated infections, and diagnostic errors. The competition kicked off May 22 and winners will be announced at the end of August.
