Based on ideas generated from five community charrettes, and under the umbrella title of Senior Connections, JHF worked on increasing opportunities for exercise and recreation for seniors in Western Pennsylvania. The Senior Connections programengagedmultiplepartners, includingVentureOutdoors,AARP,andthePittsburghParks Conservancy to design tailored programming, including the popular Fit with a Physician series led by a JHF board member, Dr. Terry Starz. Throughout 2018, Dr. Starz and physical therapist Jessie VanSwearingen, PhD, led nine Fit with a Physician walks where seniors learned about maintaining health and managing health conditions. JHF also formed a strong partnership with the CitiParks Healthy Active Living Centers and the Arthritis Foundation to provide exercise and wellness programming. This health-focused programming takes place in local city and county parks, and includes a senior-friendly mobile app/navigation tool, and online classes through JHFs Virtual Senior Academy TM . JHF also helped launch the Fit with a Legislator series in partnership with AARP Pennsylvania and held walks with City Council Members Erika Strassburger and Corey OConnor. JHF worked with AARP to train 25 older adults as Park Ambassadors to serve as peer advocates for exercise and recreation, and lead walks in the parks. In 2018, JHF distributed $100,000 in grants to Venture Outdoors and the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy to support outdoor community programming for older adults, and the development of an interactive online mapping application to help seniors safely navigate the parks.9 25FIT WITH ASENIOR PARKPHYSICIANAMBASSADORSWALKS HELD TRAINEDJewish Healthcare Foundation|2018 Year in Review 7'
